Dwers and Tear

Dwers en Tear, a film by Interakt and Pieter Verhoeff in co-production with JansenJager about composer Cees Bijlstra.

In 2004 the Frisian (film) composer and TV program maker Cees Bijlstra died suddenly. He wrote the music for many of his films for film director Pieter Verhoeff, including

The Dream, The longest journey and Nynke. In the film portrait Dwers en Tear (Dwars en tender) Verhoeff pays tribute to his deceased art friend. Inspired by Bijlstra's work, his Rotterdam colleague and admirer Paul M. van Brugge wrote an in memoriam for marimba and cello. Verhoeff subtly intertwined parts of the very first performance in this special cinematographic tribute.
