Reinbert de Leeuw's Matthäus Mission

A movie of Cherry Duyns about the special approach and unstoppable enthusiasm of the composer and conductor Reinbert de Leeuw in the preparation of Bach's monumental St Matthew Passion.

The concert registration of Reinbert de Leeuw's St Matthew Passion was recorded in March 2016 in the Nieuwe Kerk in Amsterdam.
With the Holland Baroque Society, the Nederlands Kamerkoor, the Kampen Boys Choir and young, but very promising soloists. Reinbert de Leeuw shaped De Matthäus to his will: an authentic performance in a grand sacred space with 40 instrumentalists, 32 singers, and a boys' choir of 20 singers.
